Background: Oxidative stress and amyloid deposition are tightly interconnected pathological features of Alzheimer disease. In this respect, both amyloid production and aggregation may be stimulated by oxidative stress and also the increase of pathogenic β-amyloid and its aggregated form lead to oxidative stress progression. Therefore, the search for potential drugs with both antioxidant and antiaggregation properties are of great interest. Methods: In this study, we described the stereospecific synthesis of alkaloid securinine aminoderivatives. Results: We showed that the newly synthesized compounds possess antioxidant and metal-chelating properties. Indeed, we report that one compound has inhibitory effects towards μ-amyloid aggregation. Conclusion: Based on these results, aminoderivatives of securinine scaffold are promising compounds for development of new drugs for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

The purpose of the work is to research siofor influence (metformin) on the activity of the process of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant activity of blood serum at patients with metabolic syndrome. Material and Methods — 62 patients with metabolic syndrome at the age from 30 till 60 were examined and treated by siofor (1700 mg per day) during a year. The process of lipid peroxidation was studied due to the level of lipid hydroperoxide of blood serum. Antioxidant capacity was based on the antioxidant reaction in the blood serum with definite number of exogenic hydrogen dioxide (mkmole/l) with the method of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results — Intensification of process of lipid peroxidation has been observed at patients with metabolic syndrome — the level of lipid hydroperoxide of blood serum has been 2.9 (1.9, 3.9) mkM (presented as median and interquartile range), antioxidant activity of blood serum has been decreased — 276.4 (239.0, 379.9) mkmole/l. In 12 months of siofor intake hydroperoxide level has been decreased till 1.1 (0.8, 1.9) mkМ, but antioxidant activity has been increased and amounted 320.0 (278.9, 334.3) mkmole/l. Conclusion — Siofor has been proved to be a highly effective medicine for correction of process of lipid peroxidation and for improvement of antioxidant activity of blood serum at patients with metabolic syndrome.

There has been studied influence of terahertz waves of molecular and absorption spectrum occurrence of 150.176-150.664 GHz nitrogen oxide on intensity of lipid peroxidation processes and blood antioxidant characteristics in 75 white outbred male-rats of 180-220 g under the immobilization stress condition. The tests were performed with account of lipid peroxidation metabolites – lipid hydroperoxides, malondialdehyde. The states of blood antioxidant activity were peroxide erythrocyte resistance, superoxide dismutase and catalasa, general sulfhydryl groups and vitamin E. There has been displayed that under the influence of the THz-band of 150.176-150.664 GHz nitrogen oxide occurrence there was a total normalization of lipid peroxidation processes and of functional antioxidants activity (on the background of stress at white rats).

Lipids are one of the main components of cellular membranes. Lipids make up 30-55% of the cell content depending on the types of cells. Phospholipids, sphingomyelins, cholesterol, etc. are characteristic to cellular membranes. The composition of lipids of the both sides of the membranes differs. This fact determines asymmetry of the structure of bili-pid layer. The reason for many pathologies is the changes in the properties of cellular membranes with the modification of their components. The study of structure and functioning of cellular biomembranes is essential for many researchers. The condition of membranes, their quality, their quantitative composition and modification under the influence of different factors as well as their interaction with carbohydrate and protein component are of great importance for the functioning of both membranes, cells and the body in general. Analysis and structuring of lipids and their functions in biological membranes are studied.

The aim of the study was to optimize the treatment of postoperative gynecological patients using physiotherapy method. Material and methods. It was examined 220 patients in postoperative period. It was investigated antioxidant status and lipid peroxidation. Results. It is demonstrated that patients with prolonged postoperative pain disorders are more pronounced as compared with the control group. The article presents data on the effectiveness of the impact on the antioxidant system and lipid peroxidation in postoperative period of combined use of low-intensity infrared laser therapy when exposed area of the thymus and in pantovegin electrophoresis in patients sustained postoperative pain after gynecological laparotomy. Conclusion. It is shown that this method helps to reduce pain in the postoperative wound.

Purpose: to establish the role of activation of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant deficiency of blood and amniotic fluid in the destabilization of membranes with early prenatal discharge of amniotic fluid. Material and methods. The analysis of lipid peroxidation products content in blood and amniotic fluid — diene conjugates (DC), malondialdehyde (MDA) and the quantitative determination of total peroxides (OxyStat), the estimation of the total antioxidant status (TAS), the activity of SOD and the content of ceruloplasmin in 20 pregnant with premature rupture of membranes in the gestation period of 22-34 weeks, were hospitalized at the Department of Pathology of Pregnancy of Saratov Perinatal Center in 2012. DC and MDA determination was carried out by conventional spectrophotometric methods of research, quantitative determination of peroxides (OxyStat) was carried out by enzyme immunoassay analyzer «Alfa Prime» («Meredith Diagnostics», 2008 using chemicals made by the company «Bender Medsystems»). The study of antioxidant status of serum and amniotic fluid was performed by enzyme immunoassay analyzer «Alfa Prime» («Meredith Diagnostics», England, 2008). Reagents («Bender Medsystems», Austria) were used to determine the total antioxidant status (TAS) and the SOD activity. To assess the content of ceruloplasmin reagent «Sentinel» (Italy) was used. Results. Indicators of lipid peroxidation in blood and amniotic fluid and anti-radical protection of biological membranes of cells and body fluids in the "mother-placenta-fetus" increased. Conclusion. Systemic activation of lipid peroxidation has been proved to be a pathogenetic factor in the failure of membranes in prenatal discharge of amniotic fluid. The increase in the blood levels of lipid peroxidation products on the background of the activation of antioxidant system is considered as a prognostic sign of abortion.

Vinclozolin is one of the environmental contaminants, that has been shown to induce reproductive abnormalities in male rats. The aim of this study was to explore the adverse effects of vinclozolin on testicular oxidative stress in rats. Adult (100 day old) Wistar rats were injected inperitoneally with 1, 5 and 10 mg/kg bw vinclozolin on days 1, 7, 14 and 21 and maintained up to 50 days. The animals were killed by cervical dislocation at the end of maintainance period. Testes were isolated, cleared from adhering tissue/fluid and used to analyze oxidative status. A significant increase in the levels of lipid peroxidation was observed in the testis of vinclozolin exposed rats when compared with control rats. Furthermore, a significant decrease in the activity levels of antioxidant enzymes such as, superoxide dismutase, catalase was observed in the testis of vinclozolin treated rats when compared to control rats. The results were indicated that exposure to vinclozolin induces oxidative stress in the testis by increasing lipid peroxidation and decreasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes in rats. Our findings are consistent with a major role for accumulated free radical damage in the disruption of spermatogenic process in vinclozolin exposed rats thereby affects reproduction.

Vinclozolin (3-(3-5-dichlorophenyl)-5-methyl-oxazolidine-2,4-dione) is extensively used in the viticulture, agriculture and commercial horticulture to control several fungal pathogens and has been shown to induce reproductive abnormalities in male rats, causing reduced fertility. The mechanism of action of vinclozolin on male reproductive system is not clear. In the present study we investigated whether prenatal administration of vinclozolin induces oxidative stress in the testes and changes in sperm quality and quantity in epididymis in adult male rats. Pregnant rats were injected with 1, 5 and 10 mg vinclozolin/Kg body weight on 1st, 7th and 14th day of pregnancy and allowed to deliver. Male pups were maintained up to postnatal day 100 and used for assessing testicular and epididymal toxicity. Embryonic exposure to vinclozolin significantly decreased in the sperm density, number of motile sperm, viable sperm and HOS tail coiled sperm in adult rats. Significant increase in the levels of lipid peroxidation with a significant reduction in the activity levels of superoxide dismutase and catalase in testis was observed in rats exposed to vinclozolin during embryonic development. It can be concluded that prenatal exposure to vinclozolin induced oxidative stress in testis of adult rats thereby decreases the sperm quantity and deteriorates sperm quality.
