Purpose: to estimate morphological markers of vascular remodeling in elderly patients with arterial hypertension. Material: 179 elderly patients with arterial hypertension were involved in the study. Mean intima media thickness (IMT) of common carotid arteries at plaque-free sites and prevalence of plaques were evaluated by B-mode ultrasound (Philips Envisor HD, USA). Results: IMT changing was of nonlinear character. IMT remained stable up to 74 years. Mean rate of the subsequent IMT augmentation was 0.157 mm per year. Frequency of atherosclerotic plaque revealing was significantly increased since 7th decade. No significant correlation between IMT and systolic, diastolic, mean blood pressure levels, or medication spectra was revealed. Conclusion: Received data can be considered as the evidence of significant ageing influence upon IMT enlargement.

This article contains information on principle of operation, technical parameters and possible application of Orbita {transliteration from Russian} apparatus for hemodynamic, fibrinolytic and peripheral perfusion disorders treatment. A single exposure to terahertz waves emitted by Orbita apparatus, corresponding to frequencies of molecular absorption and emission spectra of atmospheric oxygen (129.0 GHz), completely cures coagulant and fibrinolytic disorders of animals with acute immobilization stress. A course of treatment with electromagnetic waves corresponding to frequencies of molecular absorption and emission spectra of nitrogen oxide (150.176 – 150.664) leads to normalization of disrupted peripheral tissue perfusion parameters of animal undergoing treatment and stimulates basal and induced output of nitrogen oxide. This leads to decrease in peripheral vascular resistance to microcirculation and increase in blood flow to microvasculature. Experimental data provided in this article serves as a proof of viability of Orbita apparatus for treatment of coagulant, fibrinolytic and tissue perfusion disorders.

This paper presents the research findings of a sequence of three experiments that were used to assess the impact of a cell’s stage in its life cycle on mutatability and its possible mechanism. The first experiment consisted of a modified fluctuation test (Luria-Delbruck) to test for concurrency of jackpot streptomycin-resistant mutant colony in synchronously treated cultures. The second experiment consisted of performing the same test with each set of parallel cultures consisting of different media that included adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP), adenosine di-phosphate (ADP), adenosine mono phosphate (AMP), and adenosine, to see if these compounds, whose levels were modified in bacterial cells during cell division, promoted or suppressed mutation. A third experiment was performed using the same methodology to test the effect of magnesium on the occurrence of the mutant colonies. In the first experiment, the occurrence of jackpot counts of streptomycin-resistant bacteria was concurrent among parallel cultures, indicating that mutation was directed. In the second experiment, ATP and adenosine suppressed mutation, though in different levels. ADP and AMP promoted mutation in different levels. In the third experiment, addition of extracellular magnesium (in the form of magnesium sulphate) promoted mutation, even in the presence of adenosine, which was identified as a mutation suppressor in experiment 2. We conclude that bacterial mutation is a directed response to external stress and that mutatability is dependent on the cell’s phase during the time of external stress. We also conclude that mutation is possible during the cell division process due to the availability of cellular magnesium for ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) modification. Findings from this research may be used to prevent development of drug resistance, whether epigenetic or arising due to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) modification, in several pathogens, especially Mycobacterium tuberculosis through the co-administration of adenosine along with antibiotic treatment.

В условиях перманентного кризиса современной техногенной цивилизации постоянно воспроизводится очевидный конфликт поколений. В настоящее время этот конфликт порождается превратностями затянутой социализации молодежи в мире постиндустриализма (высокий «образовательный ценз», трудности в обретении финансовой независимости и т.п.).

В данной статье проводится обзор некоторых актуальных вопросов духовности в психиатрии. Рассматриваются вопросы мотивации и динамики развития суицидального поведения в связи с духовным, морально – этическим состоянием личности и нравственными социальными установками.
