Purpose: to estimate morphological markers of vascular remodeling in elderly patients with arterial hypertension. Material: 179 elderly patients with arterial hypertension were involved in the study. Mean intima media thickness (IMT) of common carotid arteries at plaque-free sites and prevalence of plaques were evaluated by B-mode ultrasound (Philips Envisor HD, USA). Results: IMT changing was of nonlinear character. IMT remained stable up to 74 years. Mean rate of the subsequent IMT augmentation was 0.157 mm per year. Frequency of atherosclerotic plaque revealing was significantly increased since 7th decade. No significant correlation between IMT and systolic, diastolic, mean blood pressure levels, or medication spectra was revealed. Conclusion: Received data can be considered as the evidence of significant ageing influence upon IMT enlargement.

Aim: to estimate the dynamic regulation of cerebral blood flow (CBF) and significance of clinical, and laboratory parameters as a possible markers of CBF violations. Material. 179 elderly patients with arterial hypertension were involved in the study. Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (Philips Envisor HD, USA) was used for CBF parameters dynamics during orthostatic hypotension. Results. Main directions of CBF parameters changings (Friedman ANOVA p 0,0091 ... 0,012, coeff. of concordance 0,308 ... 0,691) were detected. Gender differences of CBF parameters, as well as blood pressure level influence upon CBF regulation during orthostatic hypertension were studied. Conclusion. Received data allow us to consider gender, controlled or uncontrolled hypertension, cytomorphological parameters of peripheral blood, diuretics usage as clinical, and laboratory markers of dynamic regulation of CBF in elderly patients with arterial hypertension

The research goal is to investigate the relationship between hemodynamic factors and parameters of remodeling of common carotid arteries. 102 patients with essential hypertension of l-ll stage (49 men, 53 women, average age 47,5±11,2 years, duration of hypertension 7,8±1,5 years) have been examined. The study has revealed the relation between blood flow velocity in the common carotid artery (CCA) and the parameters of vascular remodeling, depending on the degree of hypertension. With the increase in systolic blood pressure dilation of common carotid arteries has been observed, reducing the rate of blood flow and wall thickness of the intima-media complex, accompanied by increased stiffness of the vascular wall. The increase in systolic blood pressure is accompanied by decrease in the rate of blood flow and wall tension on the endothelium, which contributes to thickness of the intima-media complex and increases the rigidity of the vascular wall
