The use of instrumental systems based on the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for rapid diagnosis of intact plant viruses (in particular, tobacco mosaic virus (TMV)) is considered. A new approach using detection of viral antigen and antibody (IgG) complexes formed during the preincubation step (instead of their consecutive application in classical approach) is discussed. A comparison between signal level registered from the mixture of virus and specific serum and that from the sample without virus (samples deposited onto the sensor surface treated with thiocyanate and protein A Staphylococcus aureus) allows unambiguous detection of viral particles in the material studied. The performance capabilities of the method are discussed and illustrated by quantitative detection of virus in the actual samples (cells homogenate) at high concentration.

This chapter critically reviews some of the important methods being used for building quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models using the artificial neural networks (ANNs). It attends predominantly to the use of multilayer ANNs in the regression analysis of structure-activity data. The highlighted topics cover the approximating ability of ANNs, the interpretability of the resulting models, the issues of generalization and memorization, the problems of overfitting and overtraining, the learning dynamics, regularization, and the use of neural network ensembles. The next part of the chapter focuses attention on the use of descriptors. It reviews different descriptor selection and preprocessing techniques; considers the use of the substituent, substructural, and superstructural descriptors in building common QSAR models; the use of molecular field descriptors in three-dimensional QSAR studies; along with the prospects of "direct" graph-based QSAR analysis. The chapter starts with a short historical survey of the main milestones in this area.

The quantum beats and magnetic field effect on the reaction yield spectroscopy techniques were employed to study the formation of diphenyl sulfide radical cations in squalane solutions under ionizing irradiation. It is demonstrated that the precursors of diphenyl sulfide radical cations are short-lived primary solvent radical cations (holes) with the electron spin resonance spectrum narrowed by the resonance charge transfer reaction. The rate constant of hole scavenging by diphenyl sulfide molecules was measured directly and amounts to 6.1 × 109 M-1 s-1, exceeding the diffusion-controlled one several times. The obtained value is well in line with the data on pulse radiolysis of squalane solutions with optical monitoring of the highly mobile precursor, supporting the hypothesis about the hole nature of the latter.

Сам поэтический текст есть материальный носитель, избранный поэтом для выражения собственных переживаний, в основе которых лежит конкретное чувство, событие или череда событий (история). Читатель поэтического текста по необходимости находится в ситуации сотворчества, в процессе которого творит в себе художественный образ (собственную мысленную субстанцию), следуя за автором по виртуальному миру событий, поступков и переживаний литературных героев.

As of the end of 2008, 25 species of non-native fishes have been documented in the Republic of Belarus. Of these, 17 (68%) species were deliberately introduced for aquaculture, six (24%) species invaded from the adjacent territories by natural dispersal, and two (8%) species were likely introduced accidentally. During the 20th century, the number of non-native fishes in Belarus increased exponentially, resulting in significant shifts in taxonomic composition of the country’s ichthyofauna. For the first time, we assessed the invasive potential of the introduced fishes by applying a uniform protocol, the Fish Invasiveness Screening Kit (FISK). Based on the total FISK scores, all the non-native fishes in Belarus were classified into two groups: high and medium risk of becoming invasive. In terms of the economic sectors at risk (‘aquacultural/fisheries’, ‘environmental’, and ‘nuisance’), all species were classified into three distinct groups. The highest risk to all of these sectors wa s posed by the brown bullhead Ameiurus nebulosus Le Sueur, 1819, gibel carp Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782), round goby Neogobius melanostomus (Pallas, 1814), Amur sleeper Perccottus glenii Dybowski, 1877, and topmouth gudgeon Pseudorasbora parva (Temminck & Schlegel, 1846). The two risk categories identified in the present study can be used in prioritizing the resources for the management of non-native fish species of Belarus and in countries with similar environmental conditions.

Проведены исследования дыхательной функции крови при однократном интрагастральном введении железооксидных наночастиц. Установлено возрастание кислородной емкости крови, сопровождаемое снижением числа эритроцитов, уменьшением их размеров и усилением гиперхромности. Выявлено неравномерное распределение наночастиц по периферии клетки, где заметно возрастал модуль упругости.

В данной статье рассмотрены принципы построения мультисервисных сетей связи. Предложены наиболее перспективные технологии для использования их на транспортном сегменте и в сегменте сети доступа. Рассмотрены проблемы возникающие при решении задачи управления распределением ресурсов. В качестве основных указаны необходимость решения задачи в интересах всей системы и учет свойств реального трафика.
