This article examines how well two parallel behavioral approaches, one in economics and the other in anthropology, explain the economic evolution of Neolithic societies, particularly their transit from foraging to agriculture. Both assume rational optimizing behavior. It is argued that satisficing theories provide a superior explanation of transition (and nontransition) by some huntergatherers. Furthermore, many of the concepts associated with neoclassical economics are shown to be inadequate for analyzing the choice problems involved. Moreover, it is argued that all behavioral theories considering the relationship between human behavior and economic evolution need to pay attention to the way that decisionmaking is embedded in social structures. It is unlikely that a single theory will be able to explain the economic evolution of all societies when social structures and other relevant variables differ between communities.

A dynamic model of the structural and functional optimization telecommunications transport network at the state space is proposed. The model describes the process of coordinated tasks by the choice of topology (CT) and channel bandwidth (CCB), flow distribution (FD) and limit traffic (LT) entering the transport network. The model features the capability of solving the problem of distribution of investment between the stages of optimization in concert with the objectives of CT, CCB, FD and LT, which is an advantage of the proposed solution. The paper is devoted to improvement of technique of designing of bearing structure of track machines bodies. The review and analysis of stateoftheart of the mathematical programming theory and the optimal designing are done. The numerical optimization procedure for bearing structures of track machines bodies is proposed. The approbation of the proposed procedure is taken on the number of problems of structural optimization. The number of the mathematical aspects of implementation of the proposed procedure are investigated, particularly the algorithm convergence and the sensitivity analysis of initial designs.
The deflected mode of the bearing structure of body of the ballast leveling machine SPZ5/UA was investigated analytically (FEM study) and experimentally (trial running inspection on durability). The necessity of implementation of optimization of bearing structures of bodies is substantiated. The rational design of bearing structure of track machine SPZ5/UA was obtained with the numerical optimization procedure proposed in the paper. The deflected mode of the rational bearing structure of body was investigated.
