Abstract The paper looks into convergence as a kind of concept, which is complex in its nature as it reflects an impact of one culture over another, implied in different languages. To compile “converged” lexical entries it is necessary to show not only how the languages in question encode a particular experience of the world or how extra linguistic or cultural realis is interpreted but also what fosters their differences to be levelled.

Abstract The paper focuses on the emotive origin of neologisms in the Russian and English languages. The ways new words being coined are different, but much attention is paid to their origin as consequences of progress and development of society. A new methodology of inventing new words, which combines cognitive, emotive, and informative approaches, is demonstrated here. Taking into account that lexical structure encodes the way we comprehend the world around us, a close relationship between lexicalization of concepts and knowledge in its broad sense is highlighted in the paper.

From anthropological point of view culture is a product of individuals. Human nature is created by culture and determined by it.What is important for a human being to exist, to survive, to socialize is reflected in the language. Balance between culture and pragmatics is seen in some non-equivalent units, neologisms and culturally dependent items.
