В статье показывается, что в ходе истории последних веков моральные ценности не раз подвергались деформации, отодвигаясь на задний план. Это существенным образом проявлялось в сфере политической деятельности. Особенности отношения политики и морали в условиях социализма сделали возможным феномен марксистской этики. В результате влиянии прошлых и современных факторов развития проблемы морального выбора обрели сложный характер. Выход из положения состоит в переходе к социальной системе, объединяющей государство и кооперативные (самоуправляемые) структуры. In the article it is shown that over the last centuries moral values have been distort and put back into the background. This is essentially manifested in the political sphere. The relationships between moral and politics under socialism made possible the emergence of the phenomenon of Marxist Ethics. Finally, under the influence of former and contemporary factors the problem of moral choice has acquired an extremely difficult character. The way out is in the transition to a social system involving the state and co-operative (self-governing) structure.

The assumptions of the youth of Kabardino-Balkaria about what has caused the spread of terrorism in the North Caucasus, what are the extremists’ goals and motivations are deduced from the analysis results of the sociological survey. The paper investigates the interrelation of the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism and the economic issues, officials’ efficiency, the types of interethnic relations in the republic in the youth’s perception. Analyzing the survey results the author differentiates between the rational understanding of extremism by the youth and the value-conscious attitude towards this phenomenon.

Abstract: The study of psychological features of offenders and prisoners has interdisciplinary nature; however, there are still disagreement in issues that concern the view on the prevention of recidivism and successful prisoners` re-socialization. This problem is particularly topical in Latvia as, according to statistical data, Latvia has one of the highest crime and recidivism indicator among EU countries. The choice of law-obedient or criminal behaviour is determined by several factors, though one of the most important is the level of individual`s moral and legal cognition. In turn, representations of justice and the belief in a just world are constituent parts of moral and legal cognition that largely determine the choice of socially accepted social norms in everyday life. The aim of this research is to study social representations of justice and just world of prisoners (N=100) and law-obedient citizens (N=600) of Latvia on the basis of S. Moscovici theory of social representations by developing three factor model of social representation of justice that includes justice of legal, moral and interpersonal relations.
