Впервые история материнства в России была исследована американскими учеными. Выделение motherhood studies проходило параллельно в двух направлениях: гендерной истории и истории семьи. Всплеск интереса американской русистики к проблеме материнства наблюдался в 1980-е годы. С 1990-х годов, с возросшей доступностью источников «устной истории», интерес сосредоточился на изучении советского материнства. По мнению автора, существенными недостатками работ по материнству дореволюционного периода остается скудность вовлечения в научный оборот новых эмпирических материалов, а также необоснованная абсолютизация выводов. The American researchers were the first to study the history of motherhood in Rus-sia. The motherhood studies proceeded in two directions: gender history and family history. In the 1980s, the Russian studies in America demonstrated a growing interest in the issues of the Russian motherhood. In the 1990s, due to higher availability of “oral history” sources, the scientists’ interest focused on the study of the Soviet motherhood. The author argues that a significant deficiency in the motherhood studies referring to pre-revolutionary period was the scarcity of new empirical data involved and an excessive idealization of conclusions.

The sessions of the theoretical seminar "The Peasant Question in the national and world history" (of the Centre for Agrarian Studies of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration and of the Scientific Project "People and Power: the History of Russia and its Falsifications") is dedicated to the interdisciplinary scientific analysis of various aspects of problem of the interaction of Peasantry and Power. «The Peasant Question» was considered as an essential problem of the Russian studies, in which concentrated main conflicts of Russian history.

The scientific project “People and Power: History of Russia and Its Falsifications” is devoted to the interdisciplinary scientific analysis of various aspects of the problem of the interaction of power and people as two main agents in Russian historical development. P. Marchenya is the editor and S. Razin is the coordinator of the project. The theoretical seminar “Peasant Problem in National and World History” is a part of the scientific project “People and Power: History of Russia and Its Falsifications”. The peasant problem is considered as the fundamental problem of the Russian studies, in which all main conflicts of Russian history are concentrated. Original interpretations of the agrarian conflict provide new arguments for understanding of the reforms’ reasons and results in Russian transitional society. The international round table discussion “Peasantry and Power in History of Russia in XX Century” is devoted to the interdisciplinary scientific analysis of various aspects of the problem of the interaction of peasantry and power as the most important agents in Russian historical development in the XX-th century. The international round table discussions “Stalinism and Peasantry” (I and II) are devoted to the interdisciplinary scientific analysis of various aspects of this topic as the important problem in Russian historical development in the XX-th century.

The article is dedicated to the problem of "senselessness" and "sense" of political history of Russian Smuta/Revolution from February to October 1917 as the exodus from "Alien" power to "Native" power. February and October are interpreted as poles of the political life of Russia, giving the coordinates of meaning within which the projective Russian studies are built.
