The paper addresses the problem of face recognition from images with lighting problems – flashes, shadows and very low brightness level.Authors of this paper present an algorithm that allows to solve above mentioned problem. It is based on 2DDCT method supported with brightness gradient reduction, elimination of spatial low frequency spectral components and fusion of spectral features conditioned on average intensities. Presented experimental data for image databases Yale B and Yale B+.
