Aim — The main focus of the project was to identify whether there is any interaction between Ketotifen Fumarate (antihistamine) and domperidone (Antiemetic/dopaminergic antagonist) present or not at simulated gastric and intestinal solutions of different pH. Methods — Using Job’s continuous-variation analysis the possible drug-drug interaction was determined at a fixed temperature (37ºC) at the studied pH. From Job’s continuous-variation analysis the views of drug-drug interaction at different concentration ratio at all pH (0.4, 1.2, 2.0, 2.8, 6.8, and 7.4) except 6.0 were noted. Results — Data obtained from spectroscopic analysis showed decrease in free-drug concentration of both of the drugs analyzed when they were within the same gastric simulated solution. Conclusion — Concurrent administration of Ketotifen Fumarate and domperidone would result in the formation of a stable complex and this is likely to reduce the the rapeutic activities of both drugs.

A field experiment was conducted in 2009 using Lake Ontario water in a continuous flow through system to determine the impact of low pH on dreissenid mussel (zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha Pallas, 1771, and quagga mussel, Dreissena rostriformis bugensis Andrusov, 1897) settlement and survival in calcium rich waters. Raw water containing veligers was pumped to the field laboratory where the incoming water was divided into four streams. Three of the streams had the pH adjusted using phosphoric acid to pH 7.3, 7.1 and 6.9. The fourth stream was used as a control. Three replicates of each pH resulted in 9 treatment tanks and three control tanks. Three bags of caged adults were placed in each tank. Adult mortality of almost 40% was recorded at a pH of 6.9 after 10 weeks of exposure. Analysis of the weight/length relationship of adult mussels confirmed that for any given length the mussels were significantly lighter at all three pH levels when compared to the controls. Visually, erosion and perforation of the shells was noted, leading to the conclusion that the loss in weight was primarily due to loss of calcium from the shells of the adults. The visual loss of calcium was the greatest at a pH of 6.9. New settlement was essentially prevented at a pH of 7.1. Based on these results, downward adjustment of pH in calcium rich waters may be a viable treatment for prevention of dreissenid fouling in industrial cooling water systems and raw water conveyances.

В работе представлены результаты исследования смешанной слюны детей и подростков с диагнозом «хронический пиелонефрит». Хронический пиелонефрит-это хронический деструктивный воспалительный процесс в тканях почек, в большинстве случаев сопровождающийся гиперпаратиреозом, что, в свою очередь, приводит к явлениям ацидоза во всем организме. При изучении уровня водородного показателя и буферной емкости слюны выявлена корреляция между данными величинами и стадиями основного заболевания, что является фактором риска возникновения и развития основных стоматологических заболеваний и должно учитываться врачами-стоматологами при разработке лечебно-профилактических мероприятий

In the present thesis are reported the results of study of mixed saliva of children and adolescents diagnosed with chronic pyelonephtitis. Chronic pyelonephritis is a chronic destructive inflammation in the tissues of kidneys in most cases accompanied by hyperparathyreoidism, which in turn leads to the phenomena of acidosis throughout the body. In the study of pH-level and buffer saliva capacity it was revealed, how this values correlate with the studies of underlying disease, that is the risk factor of the occurrence and development of major dental diseases, and it should be considered by dentists in the development of therapeutic and preventive measures

This paper discusses on treating effluent in the textile Industry. Several countries, including India have introduced strict ecological standards. They are consumes large quantities ofwater and produces large volumes ofwastewater in processes.Wastewater from textile industry has a high or low pH, high temperature and a high concentration of organic materials. Removing color and organics from wastewater is more important because the presence of small amounts of dyes is clearly visible and detrimentally affects the water quality. Simple chemicals such as alum, lime or iron salts can be added to wastewater to cause heavier masseswhich can be removed faster through physical processes. The analysis results were depicted in the stage-wise performance of the ETP of inlet and outlet effluent quality. The receiving influent pH 7.25 and effluent pH was 7.8. The removal efficiency of total dissolve solids, total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand and chloride was hardly to be 22.66%, 69.52%, 90.46%and 9.93%respectively. The results of the Treatability study have shown that alum dosing individually and in combination with lime can remove color and COD frommoderate to high degree of dose. 100 ppmof alumdose gives desired reduction of color and COD. 2010 Trade Science Inc. - INDIA
