The present study was designed to investigate changes in angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) blood activity and angiotensin II type 1 receptor gene polymorphism as a possible disease predictor in hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). Four hundred and nine patients (346 males and 63 females) with HFRS serologic confirmation were enrolled in the study. Their age ranged from 15 to 65 years. ACE blood activity was assessed kinetically using the Bühlmann (Switzerland) kit. Peripheral blood genomic DNA was isolated by a phenol-chloroform extraction. The genotyping of DNA loci was done using a polymerase chain reaction of DNA synthesis. Statistically, ACE blood activity was significantly higher throughout the entire HFRS course with diverse severity apart from the feverish phase of moderate-to-severe uncomplicated disease forms. *A1166 and *C1166 alleles, *A1166/*A1166 and *C1166/*C1166 genotypes of angiotensin II type 1 receptor gene were not associated with HFRS severity. The results of this study indicate that high ACE activity has not adaptive characteristics due to abnormalities in angiotensin II reception. It is an adequate metabolic response of the body to endotheliotropic virus activity.

Tropicality. Cardiomyopathies (CMP) are diseases of unknown etiology. CMP are usually diagnosed in late stages of the disease. The search for diagnostic methods for CMP in the early stage is of great importance. The purpose is to determine the character of distribution of polymorph genetic variations rates of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), glutathione S- transferase (GSTM 1) among CMP patients and healthy subjects living in the Republic of Bashkortostan and to substantiate their value in CMP pathogenesis. Materials and methods. A total of 67 patients with CMP were included in the study. Out of them, 40 patients were diagnosed with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICMP) and 27 patients — dilatation cardiomyopathy (DCMP). 110 healthy persons were enrolled in the control group. Results. In the group of patients with ICMP, the genotype DD (x2=4,81; p=0,029) occurred more frequently. In DCMP group, there was also an increase in frequency of DD genotype of polymorph genetic locus of ACE gene (%2=4,046; p=0,044). Conclusion. Genetic analysis of polymorph l/D locus of ACE gene in patients with ICMP and DCMP showed a decrease in occurrence rates of II, ID genotypes, allele I, as well as an increase in DD genotypes and allele D. This is associated with an increased risk for the development of these cardiovascular diseases

The research aimed to explore the changes of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) blood activity and polymorphism of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor gene as disease predictor at hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). In exami¬nation 409 patients at the age of 15-65 years were involved. ACE blood activity with the help of Bbhlmann (Switzerland) ACE kinetic test was determined. Blood genomic DNA by phenol- chloroformic extraction was isolated, genetic locuses by polymerase chain reaction of DNA synthesis were researched. It was shown that the ACE blood activity at HFRS is risen and these changes the significanter the severer form of disease. Nonsignificant rising of enzyme activity only in feveric period of both ungravic and gravic forms was observed. In gravic form significant changes of ACE activity are observed, in complicated form - stable high enzyme activity during all disease took place. Analysis of angiotensin II type 1 receptor gene polymorphism shown that alleles *A1166 and *C1166, genotypes *A1166/*A1166 and *C1166/*C1166 are not associated with HFRS severity. Made conclusion that high ACE activity is not adaptive reaction due to defect in angiotensin II binding and it is an adequate metabolic response of an organism to endotheliotropic virus action
