Modern pathophysiological mechanisms, which lead to the damage of cardiovascular system in perimenopausal women are represented in review. The most significant of them are hormonal imbalances, inflammation, and psycho-emotional disorders, as well as disturbances of energy metabolism, endothelial dysfunction, electrolyte and vegetative disorders, apoptosis, acceleration of atherosclerosis, obesity and insulin resistance. We conducted random search of the literature on the subject in scientific journals, electronic libraries. The selection of material for the review has been carried out concerning the clinical relevance.
